This group enables children to access the curriculum in a variety of ways. It's focus is to work on the small steps targets that are on Education Health Care Plans or targets set by class teachers.
A variety of areas are focused on daily- especially Speech and Language Therapy.
It runs in the mornings and children go there for their targeted interventions and then return to class.
Class teachers are still responsible for the children who join this group and along with the SENCO, monitor progress carefully.
The photographs below show the variety of activities that the children have experienced - all planned for meeting the needs of the individual child.
Pancake day was a big thing.
Problem Solving - The task was to build a rocket as part of a Space themed topic.
Outside space is important to us. When we can, we use the calm space of our Lottery Garden.
The nurture group raised their own money to pay for a visit to the Space Centre in Leicester. This was planned as part of their project on Space.
Our trip to the Space Centre by Jamie Dudson.
We went on Tuesday. At 9.30am the minibus arrived at school. We got there at 10.00am. We got greeted by the person who works there. He told us about the space centre. We left our lunch boxes in the cage. We went in the weather pod. We made our weather report. After the weather pod, we went in the tranquility base. We sat in the chair ride. We went into space. We went into the space station and looked at the experiments. Then we had lunch. After lunch we went in the rocket tower and we had to climb 240 steps and then we saw the satellite table. Then we went in the cinema. We watched an astronaut show. We looked at the other space experiments and we saw facts about the planets. And then we came back to school. The rocket tower was my favourite part. Mr Fantuzzi was scared of looking down!
Our Nurture group are taking part in a local community project - remembering local heroes who lost their lives fighting for their country. More information to follow as the project develops.
